5 Questions To Ask Before You Join a Virtual Networking Group
Unless you’ve been living under a rock or purposely living off the grid without access to the internet, there’s a high likelihood you’ve been attending a lot of online business networking.
Q. Does the experience make you laugh, smile, cringe, or get mad?
This is important because that’s what you can hope to expect the next time and the time after that, and the time after that (and so on).
You ideally want a networking experience that’s light, fun, lively, and entertaining, filled with high-quality SuperConnectors and Givers – who make networking something you look forward to each time.
Q. Does the Group, Leadership or Members apply peer pressure to force or shame you into inviting guests to each meeting?
If you absolutely LOVE your business networking group, you will go out of your way to tell everyone about it and will invite everyone you meet to visit. If your experience is less than stellar, you may not feel inclined to do so. Some business networking groups shame members for not inviting guests by maintaining a tally of how many members invited guests and how many didn’t. Does your group do this or some variation of this? If yes, then you must make a change and find a more authentic group that is focussed on supporting you and your business by going out of their way to make introductions and by sharing referrals.

Has your experience ever been that you typically speak once for about 30-45 seconds in a 2-hour meeting each week when introducing yourself to the group or delivering your ‘commercial’?
